Planning Application Withdrawn

We’re pleased to report a successful outcome following the withdrawal of a major residential development proposal in a small rural village within the Scottish Borders.

The application sought planning permission for a high-density affordable housing scheme, but was accompanied by a poor-quality submission that failed to meet the basic standards expected for a development of this scale and sensitivity.

Our detailed objection raised serious concerns including:

• Overdevelopment of the site, with no respect for the scale, character, or capacity of the village

• Lack of design quality, landscaping, or integration with the existing settlement pattern

• Missing information on key infrastructure, including drainage, access, and open space

• Failure to comply with local and national planning policy for rural and affordable housing

We demonstrated that the proposal would have led to unsustainable and inappropriate expansion of the village, undermining local identity and placing undue pressure on infrastructure and amenity.

Following our submission, the planning application was withdrawn prior to determination—a clear acknowledgment that the scheme was not fit for approval.
